Delivery is nigh!
over 6 years ago – Thu, Aug 10, 2017 at 07:20:05 PM

I've recently received word that the shipment both the Evil Inc After Dark books and the Courting Disaster books has arrived, and a trucking company has been hired to perform the last leg of the logistics, lugging this load of libidinous lore. They phoned earlier today to tell me that the shipment would be made either later today or sometime tomorrow.

The NSFW Commissions comic book has already been delivered, and it looks fantastic.

That means — barring any unforeseen circumstances — once I get these sexy stories safely stowed in storage, I can swiftly shift to shipping them straight to your stoops, stairs and sanctuaries.

Stay 'tooned.

Shipping schedule!
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Jul 03, 2017 at 05:46:37 PM

Hopefully, you're having a relaxing and enjoyable holiday weekend! Here's a quick update: The books are on their way from the printer! The tentative date for delivery is Aug 15. I will begin shipping to backers after the books have been safely stored in my warehouse.

However, the truly great news is this — the printer has shipped me samples of the Courting Disaster book and both versions of the Evil Inc After Dark book (hardcover and softcover) and I am beyond thrilled with the print quality.

The colors are downright dazzling, the paper quality is fantastic, the covers look beautiful, and all of those other little details like binding and page-trim look great. The spot-gloss on the hardcover is gorgeous... I'm super happy with the way it turned out.

Bottom line... these books turned out phenomenally well. I'm truly proud of this stuff, and I'm thrilled that you backed it.

Binding approved
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Jun 12, 2017 at 05:48:43 PM

As you recall from the preceding update, I realized just before approving the press run that there was a page missing from the book.

That meant re-sending the last eight pages of the book. (Thank goodness it wasn't in the middle.) But since it happened so late in the game, I wanted the printers to send me samples of the pages before they started binding the books.

They came today, and they are gorgeous. The colors reproduced vividly, and the inks are absolutely astounding. Plus, I'm glad I went with a heavier semi-gloss paper, because those colors absolutely sparkle. I've never been happier about a press run than I am right now.

Here are some photos, if you're interested. It's actually cool seeing how they position the pages on a huge sheet and then slice-and-dice them into a book.

However... between the two delays and my insistence in seeing pages before the binding process, I'm going to miss my original delivery target of June. Currently, the estimate is for me to take delivery by late July — and potentially August, depending on US Customs.

I'm very disappointed about that. I have started drawing Artist Edition illos on book plates, so, hopefully, I can mitigate the effect this will have on backers who got AE books.

I sincerely apologize for the delay. If this book weren't so darned important to me, I might have taken a risk and had the book bound without seeing the pages. But I really wanted to make this book great.

I hope, when you see it, you'll agree that I made the right decision.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Digital rewards

Backers of the original Kickstarter campaign should have received their digital rewards through Backerkit by now. If you haven't received yours, please let me know!

Printing Update: Proof Approval!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, May 26, 2017 at 10:14:30 PM

The proofs are in, they look awesome, and the presses will begin rolling soon. And that means I can focus on digital rewards.

Proofs

If you'd like to see some photos of the proofs, I've uploaded a few here. There are actually two sets of proofs for each book.

Each book gets a set of low-res proofs that don't represent the image quality. (So don't worry that they look "washed out.") It's just there to make sure I get the pages in the right order... make a last check for typos, etc. And it's a good thing I did. I found a missing page in one of the storylines that I would have been heartbroken to have missed!

The other proofs — the shiny ones — are hi-res proofs that give a better idea of how the images will print. And I'm really excited about how those look.

Evil Inc Hardcover

There was a slight delay in the proofing process because I had ordered spot-gloss on the cover of the hardcover, and then forgot about it. I had budgeted for it, so that wasn't a problem. But when I uploaded the covers, the printers asked about the spot-gloss, and then I was like... "Oh, yeah! I get to do spot gloss!"

It was kinda like Christmas. :)

Spot gloss is a printing process that places a glossy coating over certain areas of the book. It has a cool visual effect like this.

It's going to make those hardcovers look awesome.

Hey! What about the Commission Comic Book?

I used a different printer for that book. I'm uploading files as we speak. That project has a lot fewer moving parts, and it will be shipped in plenty of time to be included with the outgoing shipments. We're still on track for shipping to begin in June, but realistically, it's going to be late June.

Digital rewards

Now that I've got the proofs of the two major books out of the way, I can begin to focus on delivering those digital rewards. Be watching your inbox for new on that early next week.

Thanks again for your support and for being a backer! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Last chance! Get those surveys in!
almost 7 years ago – Tue, May 09, 2017 at 07:55:51 AM

The files get shipped off to the printers this week, so this is your last chance to look over the Supporters List and verify that your listing appears the way you want it — or, if you'd rather not be included in the list, you can confirm that your name doesn't appear.

Remember to consult that handy chart, if you're not sure if your name should be on the list in the first place.

Also, out of 600+ backers, we're down to just a few who haven't filled out their surveys. You've been getting reminders from Backerkit. Please make sure you do that soon!

When you do, you'll see all of the add-ons that you can get for your order — including both print and digital versions of all of my previous Evil Inc and Courting Disaster collections!
